This was Jim's eighth recording from 1999. It's a collection of "trail songs" inspired from the long trails he has been fortunate enough to follow over the years.

Jim Stoltz lives the life of the wandering troubadour. He not only spends much of the year touring with his multi-media concert, Forever Wild. but he also walks the talk.

For over 25 years, he has taken to the backcountry, walking America's last wild places for months at a time.

Nearly 25,000 miles have passed since his first trek, and he's still at it.

Jim's music shares the magic of the backcountry experience. It captures the spirit of the wide open trails and the taste of the wild wind.

With his eighth recording, Walkin' Jim offers us a glimpse of the wild places: a joyous howl from the deserts, mountains, forests and canyons he has walked: a voice from the long trails.

The Vision - CD - 1992

The songs on this recording come from a wide range of places and times. Most of them represent unique journeys, moments, and experiences from my 25,000 miles of walking across North America’s last wild places. Wilderness sings to my (Jim’s) soul. It inspires. It challenges. It fills me with a sense of peace along with a sense of belonging. Once tasted, it keeps calling me back. These songs mean a lot to me, and I hope they’ll grow to mean a lot to you, too.

Wild Wind
Thinkin' Like A Mountain
Old Crystal Bell
Windsinger
Old Man From The Mountains
These Are The Ancient Forests
Morning In The Mountains
Power In The Earth
Searchin' For The Road Not Taken
The Food Chain Song
Way Out West
Wild Rockies Home
The Vision

This was Jim's fifth recording from 1992. It was re-released in 2000 with new versions of a few of the songs and a new cover.

Slugs And Bugs - Lyrics - 1990

 A Kid For the Wild - CD - 1990

     C
Let's hear it for the slugs!      For The Slugs!

And the bugs!           And the Bugs!
      C                                                 F
And the rats and the bats, and the slippy, slimy critters,
                   C                                    G
And the little ones wherever they're found.
                          C                                F
For it's the teeny-weeny tiny and the gritty-gratty grimy
               C              G          C        F
That make the world go round, round,
                C             G            C
They make the world go round!     :First Chorus

      C                                                F
The snails hide their tails, and the worms like to squirm,
                       C                           G
And the slug gives a shrug, he's feeling so smug,
                  C                       F
The caterpillar makes her way up a stem,
       C                                    G       C
What would we do without all of them?

Let's hear it for the slugs and the bugs
   And the slippy, slimy critters,
And the little ones wherever they're found,
For it's the teeny-weeny tiny and the gritty-gratty grimy
That make the world go round, round,
They make the world go round.  :Chorus

Oh, there are ladybugs, and tumblebugs, and smelly stink bugs
Potato bugs, and love bugs, and even doodlebugs,
There are fleas and bees, playing in the breeze,
What would we do without all of these?
      (Chorus)
The newt is a beaut, she's looking so cute,
The snake gives a shake, he's heading for the lake,
The louse and the mouse are going for a swirl,
There's all kinds of life in this wide world.
      (Chorus)
The turtle does a hurtle, getting over a log,
And the frog does a jog, hopping through the bog,
Moths and butterflies they look so neat,
The smallest ones make the biggest treat.
                    (Repeat First Chorus)

Manfred The Mopey Moose - Lyrics - 1990

A Kid For the Wild - CD - 1990
       D                                 A                    G                 D
You can see him down in the meadow, he's long and  he's tall,
      D                             A                                 G                   D
And the way he eats and eats and eats, well he's going to get it all!

                      D                 A                           G                  D
Chorus:   Manfred the mopey moose,    he's movin' oh so slow,
       D                            A                        G                   D
Feedin' down by the riverside, Where them tasty willows grow.

You know what I mean, he's an eatin' machine,
He can really pack it away,
With his antlers wide as his legs are long,  Nothing gets in his way.
     (Chorus)
He's got a nose as big as a suitcase,
You know it helps him find his dinner,
His eyesights bad as it can be,   It's a wonder he ain't thinner!
     (Chorus)
With his laid back ways and his loppy grin, He's as friendly as can be,
But then sometimes he'll get so crabby, might chase you up a tree!
     (Chorus)
There he goes right now,    Big knobby knees in the air,
Splashing through the water, He don't need no boots to wear!
   (Final Chorus)
